Words once spoken by someone with whom we can all learn from now and for years to come. “We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success”.
1) You have to laugh and find humor every day. Otherwise, you may start to disappear in the never-ending frustrations that beat on each one of us on a daily basis.
2) You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. There are so many people walking around who are dead and don’t even know it! They may be breathing, but they are not really living, merely existing.
3) There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. Growing older doesn’t take any talent or ability. To grow up by always finding an opportunity to change, now that is growing up.
4) Have no regrets. The only people who fear death are those with regrets.
Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, its only seed
It’s the heart, afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It’s the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It’s the one who won’t be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the sun’s love, in the spring
Becomes the rose
This post is in reference to an eighty-seven year old lady named Rose that I read about from a blog posted by Ken R. Young. Rose always dreamed of having a college education and even though the years were catching up on her, she managed to obtain what she had set her sites on. Rose finished her college degree that she had begun many years before. Then one week after graduation, Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s never too late to be all you can possibly be.
Take to heart what you have read here. You have only one life to live and you are the one with whom can make it mean something or not. No matter what the issues, what your age, how long or short your life may be, everyone has a “rose” within them waiting to bloom and to experience all of what life can offer.
Do your best to water, nurture and help that rose within you grow as tall as it possibly can.
